Reframe 🖼

Food for thought: The best way to get out of a rut is to REFRAME!

I’ll be honest, I loathe the phrase “cheat meal”. What’s that? How is that a part of a balanced lifestyle? And before you feel like I’m judging you, I’m not! I used to say it ALL THE TIME!

What I realized was that when I said those words, I was still living with a diet mentality! What we say speaks life over us and I didn’t want to be a part of that type of thinking any longer.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO FEEL ASHAMED TO ENJOY AN INDULGENT MEAL EVERY ONCE AND A WHILE.

When you live with food freedom, or Mindful Eating as a Way of Life,  you will see food on a continuum rather than a GOOD vs. BAD list. You start to recognize;

  • Foods you eat most of the time that serve your body and goals

  • Foods you eat sometimes that don’t take you too far from your goals

  • Foods that you eat less. These foods are probably ones you would deem “cheats” but instead of that mindset, consider REFRAMING your mindset. Those foods are few and far between so you don’t have to feel guilt or shame as you enjoy them.

Less guilt means you are more likely to stay on track and not feel those RESTRICTIONS that come with dieting.

DID YOU KNOW THAT MOST CRAVINGS STEM FROM NOT GETTING THE RIGHT BALANCE OF FOODS - ESPECIALLY THOSE TO BALANCE YOUR HORMONES?

THE SHIFT:

When you reframe, you look at the situation from a different perspective. How can you adjust the negative into helping you find a win! I’m not saying lie to yourself or make excuses for yourself either. But as women, we so easily slide into the blame, guilt, and self-loathing that we can halt all progress.

So you simply…REFRAME 🖼

Here’s another statement that needs reframing: “I just don’t have time to ____________.”

The truth is we all have the same amount of hours in a day. So either that thing you want to do, but don’t have time for is not a priority for you, OR you do have time and need to reevaluate how you’re spending your time to make that thing you want to do, but don’t, HAPPEN.

REFRAME 🖼

From: I don’t have time to exercise and go to the gym.

To: While I couldn’t get to the gym today, I can still go for a walk after dinner. At least I can move my body today.

If it’s a priority, then treat it as such. Otherwise, what you’re really saying is: I think I should be going to the gym because that would help me with my goals, but I would honestly rather ____________.

From: I am never going to reach my goals, so why bother. I keep giving in to my cravings.

To: I am aware that my cravings are holding me back. Now I can add in a 5-minute action so I make a better choice next time.

If you struggle to reframe your thoughts, know you are not alone. I did too and still have to work on it, but the more you practice and have someone to help you practice too, the better you’ll get at making this a way of thinking.

So….what thoughts are you reframing today?
