At 37 years old, I thought that there was nothing I could do about my increasing hot flashes, intense mood swings, and depressive thoughts that came and went like a tornado 🌪 - no warning, not there long, but created some real damage.

Once I realized that the foods I was eating, as well as other simple solutions to how I live my life, could actually positively benefit how I felt and decrease or even eliminate these symptoms, I was ready to stay the course and make changes.

Sure, there are many ways you can address hormone imbalance and I always recommend you see your doctor to know what is ACTUALLY going on in your own body. When your hormones are out of balance you can easily feel an array of symptoms such as:

⚡️Excess belly fat 

⚡️Excess weight that won’t come off

⚡️Mood swings

⚡️Hot flashes

⚡️Thyroid issues

⚡️Anxiety and/or depression

⚡️Extreme exhaustion

⚡️And just feeling off…

You can address the symptoms, or you can address the issue. YES! You want to feel better NOW! But not knowing if you’re really making a sustainable change isn’t something you should guess. Most modern medicines only help the symptoms, they don’t address the underlying issue.

How about a story to illustrate: Since 18 years of age, I can remember battling with hormones. Every month, the week before my cycle began I would struggle with mindset, anxiety, excessive stress, and just feeling overwhelmed. My mood swings were extreme and took a toll on my relationships and my conference. Over the last two decades, I have seen the ups and downs being put on birth control as the main solution. I've been on and off it until about 3 years ago when I said good riddance for good. I didn't want it controlling my life any longer. Once March 2020 hit just a few short months later, I thought my irregular cycles, hot flashes, and stubborn belly fat were just symptoms of the circumstances of the world and my environment. I was partially correct. I had been living in such a high-stress level for years that I couldn't see the obvious signs of insulin resistance and possible PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). The pill had masked my irregular cycles for years! So I couldn’t see HUGE telling markers of something bigger going on underneath the surface. Something that couldn’t be fixed with a pill.

When I look back over the last 2 decades, I see all the signs of Insulin Resistance. My weight was up and down by an average of 10 pounds. Sometimes due to my stress eating, but honestly, many times I felt I was on track and doing the right moves with my fitness and nutrition, but nothing seemed to be working. It was exhausting, aggravating, and at times devastating. Can you relate?

I know we are always harder on ourselves than others. But I love the women in the pictures above. The top 3 pictures span 2 decades, while the bottom 3 cover those same decades. There was enough fluctuation on me to see that so many factors from what I eat, to what I put on my skin, my stress levels and more play a HUGE role in my lifestyle, habits, and how I feel. There were times that you can see I was more on track to managing my hormone balance and others where it was a CHALLENGE for me.

I’m not sure if you can relate to any of this, but from my research, I know that so many women have experienced similar struggles in their 30’s and 40’s especially.
